Elmar Frey

Elmar Frey is born in 290, the third child Lord Walder Frey has with his seventh wife, Annara Farring, and reportedly the twenty-second among all the children of the lord of the Twins.

His brother Merrett Frey recounts a rumor that Annara had been the lover of Walder Frey the Black, casting doubt on who his real father was.

As part of the pact Catelyn Tully strikes with Lord Walder Frey to secure passage across the Twins, Elmar is betrothed to Arya Stark, the younger daughter of Lord Eddard Stark.

Elmar serves as squire to Lord Roose Bolton and is part of the army that takes Harrenhal.

Without knowing it, he often deals there with his betrothed, hidden under the identity of a servant girl named Nan. Before he ever learns who she really is, word reaches him that the betrothal has been broken because Arya has vanished, and Elmar weeps believing his betrothed is dead.

Elmar stays on at Harrenhal in Bolton's service, now as his cupbearer. He remains in that role when the castle receives Ser Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth.
