Rhaegar Frey

Rhaegar is the second son of Ser Aenys Frey and Tyana Wylde, and his parents named him after Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Back at the Twins the choice is mocked: they say he has a dragon's name and a weasel's face.

He is described as round-shouldered and thick around the middle, with a thin beard and a crooked smile. He wore a grey woolen jerkin trimmed in silver, and a silver cloak fastened with a brooch shaped like the Twins.

He had married Jeyne Beesbury and had three children with her, until she died of an illness and left him a widower.

Rhaegar travels to White Harbor with Jared Frey and Symond Frey, carrying the bones of Wendel Manderly, killed at the Red Wedding, to hand them to his father Lord Wyman Manderly, and while there to secure the city's loyalty to the Iron Throne.

Rhaegar offers to marry Wynafryd, Lord Wyman's granddaughter, while the Freys also put forward a bride of their own for Wyman and another match for his other granddaughter, Wylla Manderly.

When Davos Seaworth arrives to ask the Manderlys to swear to Stannis Baratheon, Rhaegar insults him and the memory of Robb Stark in front of everyone present.

Wyman pretends to agree — his son Wylis is still held hostage by the Iron Throne — and secretly stages a deception: he has a criminal who resembles Davos executed and his tarred head mounted on the walls, so the Freys believe the smuggler dead. In reward for his apparent loyalty, the Throne releases Wylis. When the three Freys leave the city, Wyman sends them off with gifts of palfreys.

The plan was for the three of them to join the rest of House Frey at Winterfell, for the wedding of 'Arya Stark' to Ramsay Bolton. None of them was ever seen again.

Aenys Frey and Hosteen Frey do not believe Wyman Manderly's account and suspect he is lying.

At the feast, Lord Wyman serves three enormous meat pies and asks Abel the Bard to sing 'The Rat Cook' — a gesture that leaves open the suspicion that the three Freys did reach Winterfell after all, just not in the way they expected.
