Olyvar Frey
Olyvar Frey is one of the many sons of Lord Walder Frey, and the one his house handed over as squire to King Robb Stark when it sealed its alliance with the North. Two years older than his liege, he earned a name as a devoted squire and fought at Robb's side in the war's early battles.
Chapter 1
The squire of the pact
Books only
When Lady Catelyn Tully struck her bargain with Lord Walder Frey to bring House Frey into the war for the North, Olyvar was part of the price: he was sent to serve as Robb Stark's squire. Two years older than his liege, eager and hot-blooded, he soon earned a name among the northmen for his devotion to the young king. He fought at Robb's side at the Whispering Wood, one of the war's first clashes.
Chapter 2
The terms of peace
Books only
When Robb Stark sought to test peace with the Iron Throne, it was Olyvar who stood beside him as he handed his terms to Ser Cleos Frey.
Chapter 3
Absent from the Red Wedding
Books only
When Robb Stark's marriage to Jeyne Westerling broke the pact and the Freys pulled out of the war, Olyvar asked to stay with the king but ended up going back to his family. He was not at the Red Wedding: Ryman Frey said he was "on guard duty", and it is possible his kin kept him away on purpose because of his closeness to Robb. What he felt about it, or what he did afterward, is unknown.
