Walda Frey daughter of Edwyn Frey

An uncomfortable rumor has long run through the Twins: that Janyce Hunter, Walda's mother, once had an affair with Black Walder. The one telling it this way is Merrett Frey, a distant relative of the family.

The story is well known enough among her own kin to cast doubt on who Walda's father truly is.

The death of her grandfather, ser Ryman Frey, at the hands of outlaws, changes Walda's place within the family.

Her father Edwyn becomes the new heir to the Twins, and she herself rises to second in that line, just ahead of the man she calls uncle, Black Walder.
