Stevron Frey

Stevron is born in 234 AC, Walder Frey's eldest son and declared heir to the Twins. He has his father's long face and grey eyes, and looks every one of his sixty-odd years. Walder raised him to lead, though he jokes that his son has spent forty years waiting his turn. Those who deal with him call him affable and reasonable.

By 297 AC, at the tournament for Prince Joffrey's name day, Stevron is already past jousting age — a small detail that places him well in his own life just as the war is about to break.

When Joffrey Baratheon takes the Iron Throne, Walder and Stevron are among the lords summoned to King's Landing to swear him loyalty. Soon after, with the northern army at the gates of the Twins, it's Stevron who negotiates outside while Catelyn Tully does the same inside with Lord Walder.

Out of that comes the alliance with Robb Stark: free passage in exchange for a marriage to one of Walder's daughters. Stevron takes command of the Frey contingent and marches west with Robb.

After the Battle of the Camps, back at Riverrun, Stevron counsels patience — let Tywin Lannister and Renly Baratheon wear each other down over the throne.

He offers to bring the captive Jaime Lannister back from Harrenhal to his father Tywin. What he gets is indignation, not gratitude, and the assembled lords end up proclaiming Robb King in the North instead.

Catelyn Tully proposes sending Stevron as an envoy to Balon Greyjoy. Robb picks Theon instead, Balon's son, raised alongside the Starks. Stevron stays with the campaign into the Westerlands and leads the Frey soldiers at the Battle of Oxcross.

He comes out wounded, not seriously it seems, but three days later he's found dead in his tent, in 299 AC. His son Ser Ryman Frey succeeds him as heir to the Twins, and Maester Luwin goes so far as to rebuke Walder the Elder and Little Walder for showing so little grief over their uncle.
