Alys Arryn
Not to be confused with Alys Arryn (wife of Rhaegel Targaryen).
Alys Arryn was the daughter of Lord Jasper Arryn and sister to Jon and Ronnel Arryn. Married to Ser Elys Waynwood, she was the mother of nine children whose widely differing fates became entwined with several houses of the Vale and the Riverlands.

Chapter 2
Eight daughters and a son
Books only
The only son and two of the daughters died as children, victims of a run of misfortune. The eldest of the sisters who reached adulthood married Ser Denys Arryn and bore him a son. Another was left scarred by the smallpox that had killed her sisters, and went on to take vows as a septa. A third was seduced by a sellsword; Ser Elys disowned her for it, and when the bastard son she bore died as an infant, she joined the Silent Sisters.
The next daughter married Lord Elesham, lord of Los Senos, but the marriage produced no children: she proved barren. Another was travelling to the Riverlands to marry into House Bracken when the Burned Men seized her along the way, and the wedding never took place. The youngest of all married the landed knight of House Hardyng; they had a son, Harrold, and she died.
