House Redfort of Redfort
Casa Redfort de Fuerterrojo
House Redfort of Redfort is a noble family of the Vale of Arryn, sworn to House Arryn since long before Aegon's Conquest. It descends from the First Men who settled the Vale before the Andals arrived, and its stronghold gives the line its name.
Under the words As Strong as Stone, the Redforts hold a quiet but steady place among the lesser lords who uphold Arryn power in the mountains.
Chapter 1
The price of defeat

When the Andals crossed the narrow sea and began seizing the Vale, the lord of Redfort of that time sought shelter in an alliance with King Robar II Royce, one of the last First Men kings still resisting the invaders.
The alliance cost him his life. At the Battle of the Seven Stars, Torgold Tollett killed Lord Redfort, and with him died much of the resistance still left in the region.
The Redforts who survived paid for their continued existence with gold, land and hostages, and knelt before Artys Arryn, the first King of Mountain and Vale. From then on the house was bound to Arryn service.

The war of the claimants

Generations later, during the reign of Aegon III Targaryen, the death of Lady Jeyne Arryn left the lordship of the Eyrie without a firm heir, and the murder of regent Ser Corwyn Corbray plunged the Vale into a crisis that split its houses into factions.
House Redfort sided with Ser Joffrey Arryn, the heir Lady Jeyne had named before her death, and joined the war that would decide who held the Eyrie.
