House Farwynd of the Lonely Light

In the Iron Islands, where stories of skinchangers are already common, the Farwynds of the Lonely Light are held to be stranger still than their kin at Sealskin Point, from whom they descend. Some are said to take the shape of a walrus or a whale shark.

Their arms show a black ship on a sea just as black, with a red sun rising behind it.

After the death of Balon Greyjoy, when the Iron Islands gathered to choose a new king at the kingsmoot, Lord Gylbert Farwynd was the first to step forward.

He put himself forward with his three sons as champions of his own claim, but the assembly turned his cause aside almost at once.
