Kitty Frey
Kitty Frey is the ninth wife of Lord Walder Frey, lord of the Twins.
Like her husband's other wives, she occupies the place of a woman married for convenience, in a household ruled by a patriarch who makes no secret of his contempt for her.
Chapter 1
The ninth wife
Show only
Kitty becomes Lord Walder Frey's ninth wife after Lady Joyeuse Erenford, her predecessor, dies at Catelyn Tully's hands during the Red Wedding.
Her place in the household at the Twins becomes clear soon enough: when Lothar Frey and Walder Rivers come to tell their father that Brynden Tully has retaken Riverrun, Walder strikes her in front of his sons and shouts that if he wanted excuses he would have put her in charge. While he gives orders on what to do about Ser Brynden, he forces her to sit on his lap and keeps her there, visibly uncomfortable.
Chapter 2
Winter comes to the Twins
Show only
Kitty stands beside Lord Walder as he addresses the assembled Freys in the hall of the Twins and raises a cup for a toast. When she tries to drink from her own, he stops her.
Moments later, the men of the family begin choking and bleeding while Kitty and the other women look on, not understanding what is happening. The man wearing Walder Frey's face is then revealed to be Arya Stark, who, before leaving, gives Kitty a message for whoever remains: that the North remembers, and that winter has come for House Frey.
