House Ruthermont is a noble family of the Vale of Arryn, of Andal descent. Its name is tied to the early days of Arryn rule in the region, when Ser Artys Arryn fought the last Bronze King.

When Ser Artys Arryn landed in the Vale determined to bring it to heel, House Ruthermont sided with him in the war against Robar II Royce, the king who held the title of Bronze King.
Some sources go further and name a Lord Ruthermont as the one who killed Robar II, ending the line of Bronze Kings. The claim is not firm: it is told only "sometimes", without the rest of the account confirming it.
