House Bulwer of Blackcrown is a noble house of the Reach, sworn to the Hightowers and lords of the stronghold that bears their name. Their sigil — a bull's skull, bone upon a field of blood — and their words, Death Before Disgrace, point to a lineage that reaches back to the First Men.

Tradition traces the Bulwers back to a time before dates, the age of the Reach's legends: it is said that Bors the Breaker, one of the many sons memory attributes to Garth Greenhand, laid the first foundations of the house.
Nothing survives from that age but the tale and the name, handed down together with Blackcrown and the loyalty the Bulwers have owed ever since to the Hightowers of the Reach.
