Lynesse Hightower
Lynesse Hightower is the youngest daughter of Lord Leyton Hightower, ruler of Oldtown, and was the second wife of Ser Jorah Mormont, lord of Bear Island. She loved the comforts of the Reach and never settled into the hardship of the north, and that gap fed many of her husband's troubles. She now lives in Lys, where she is the first concubine of a wealthy merchant prince.
Chapter 1
The tourney at Lannisport
From 272 ACBooks only
Lynesse was born in 272 AC, the youngest of Lord Leyton Hightower's daughters. Nothing survives of her childhood in Oldtown; the first solid trace of her comes only once she is grown, at a tourney.
At the Tourney of Lannisport, Ser Jorah Mormont won the joust and crowned her Queen of Love and Beauty. He asked for her hand soon after, and they married in the same city. Years later he would recall that first sight of her: «The first time I saw her I thought she was a goddess made flesh, as if the Maiden herself had come down to earth».
Chapter 2
The ruin of Bear Island
Books only
On Bear Island, Lynesse never adjusted to the north's austerity, and her husband began breaking the law to keep her in the style she was used to. Dacey Mormont judged her bluntly: «She had soft hands, no good for holding an axe».
Jorah eventually tried to sell some criminals to a Tyroshi slaver, and when Lord Eddard Stark found out, he convicted him of slave trading. The couple fled to the Free Cities, and there she left him for Tregar Ormollen, a wealthy Lyseni merchant prince.
Chapter 3
The first concubine of Lys
Books only
In Lys, Lynesse became Tregar Ormollen's foremost concubine, a place so high in his household that even the prince's own wife fears her.
When Ser Humfrey Hightower sailed to Lys to hire sellswords against the ironborn ravaging the Reach, he counted on Lynesse to help him secure the best fleet available.
