Walys Flores

Walys Flowers was a maester of the Citadel, born a bastard to a Hightower girl and one of its archmaesters. Once he forged his chain he was sent to Winterfell, where he served while Rickard Stark led the house, and he is remembered for pushing his lord toward alliances in the south, down to the match that wed Brandon Stark to Catelyn Tully of Riverrun.

His mother was a Hightower girl; his father, one of the archmaesters of the Citadel. Out of that union he was born without a claim to his father's name, and it was there, at the Citadel, that he forged his maester's chain.

Once his training was done he was sent north, to Winterfell, to serve the house then ruled by Rickard Stark.

He served Rickard Stark at Winterfell, and tradition credits him with the drive to draw his lord toward the south. He is named as the source of the idea that led Brandon, Rickard's son, to the altar with Catelyn Tully, the daughter of Hoster Tully of Riverrun.

He died in the year 283.
