Addam Hightower

Addam was the eldest of Manfred Hightower's sons, the lord who ruled Oldtown and its Hightower when Aegon the Conqueror crossed the narrow sea. He had three brothers, Garmon among them, and in time fathered two sons of his own, Manfred and Patrice.

In the ninth year after the Conquest, King Aegon and Queen Visenya put Asperón, Vaith and Sotoinferno to the torch. The Dornish struck back the following year: Lord Fowler crossed the Prince's Pass into the Rejo and seized Canto Nocturno. When word reached Oldtown, Manfred sent his firstborn with a sizable force to win the stronghold back.

While Addam marched toward the Rejo, a second Dornish army under Ser Joffrey Dayne came down from Campoestrella and struck at Oldtown itself. The walls held, but the attackers burned fields, farms and villages for twenty leagues around the city.

Addam reached Canto Nocturno to find the castle burned and its garrison slain; Fowler had carried off Lord Caron, his wife and his children to Dorne as hostages. Rather than give chase, Addam turned back to defend Oldtown, but by then Ser Joffrey and his men had already vanished into the mountains again.

Old Manfred died not long after, and Addam inherited the lordship of the Hightower along with the rest of his house's titles. When he in turn died, his son Manfred succeeded him.
