Morgan Hightower

Morgan was the youngest child of Manfred Hightower, lord of Oldtown during the reign of Aenys I; his elder siblings were Martyn, heir to the lordship, and a sister, Ceryse.

When the war to conquer the Seven Kingdoms broke out, Morgan swore himself to the Warrior's Sons, the armed brotherhood serving the Faith, and in time rose to lead them in Oldtown.

In 43 AC King Maegor I and his mother, the dowager queen Visenya, arrived in Oldtown atop Balerion and Vhagar to break the resistance of the High Septon, the figurehead of the Faith Militant's revolt. Morgan stationed two thousand of his men around the Starry Sept, ringing it in steel to guard the High Septon himself.

That same night the High Septon was found dead. Suspicion spread that Morgan had killed him on his brother Martyn's orders, now lord of the Hightower, since he had been seen going in and out of the High Septon's private chambers during those hours. As soon as he learned of it, Martyn had every Warrior's Son arrested, his own brother included, and called on the Most Devout to gather at once and choose a new High Septon. Oldtown surrendered without further bloodshed.

Of all the arrested Warrior's Sons, Morgan was the only one King Maegor chose to pardon.

The following year, while traveling toward Honeyholt, a band of former Warrior's Sons led by Ser Joffrey Doggett killed him. He was the first of several knights loyal to Maegor slain by former members of the order.
