House Brune of Brownhollow
Casa Brune de Vallepardo
House Brune of Brownhollow is a small house of knights from the Crownlands, sworn to the Baratheons of King's Landing from their seat at Brownhollow.
It is one of those houses that rarely stand at the centre of a chronicle, yet whose name keeps turning up at the edges of some of the episodes that did shape the realm.
Chapter 1
The knights of Brownhollow
Books only
In the Crownlands, the Brunes hold Brownhollow and answer to the Baratheons of King's Landing as household knights rather than as lords in their own right. Their arms show a bear's paw, tenné on a field of white, closed within a double tressure of the same colour.
The name goes back to the Brune brothers, remembered as the lords who once brought peace to Sharp Point, though that calm did not last long.
Chapter 2
The black cause in the Dance of the Dragons
129–131 ACBooks only
When the realm split over the Iron Throne, House Brune took the side of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, adding its swords to the black cause during the Dance of the Dragons.
Chapter 3
At the Trident, beside the prince
283 ACBooks only
Generations later, knights of the house rode with Prince Rhaegar Targaryen at the Battle of the Trident, one of the last fights of the Targaryens while they still held the throne.
