Ronnal Baratheon
Ser Ronnal Baratheon was one of the younger brothers of Lord Rogar Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and Hand of the King under Jaehaerys I Targaryen.
His place in history comes down to a single afternoon's errand: hunting for princess Aerea Targaryen through King's Landing, at a moment when whoever held the heir close held the advantage.
Chapter 1
The errand in King's Landing
58 ACBooks only
Ronnal was among Rogar Baratheon's younger brothers, and he was in King's Landing the day his brother stepped down as Hand of the King. Rogar believed the political edge lay in keeping princess Aerea Targaryen close, so he sent Ronnal to fetch her from her chambers. He found the room empty: the princess had already left with queen Alyssa Velaryon.
After the failed errand, Ronnal returned with his brothers to Storm's End. Pardon came later, when Rogar presented himself before King Jaehaerys: every brother was forgiven except Orryn. Ronnal stayed close enough to court to attend the king's second wedding, to queen Alysanne.
He also fought in the melee of a tournament held to mark the completion of the Dragonpit, and in 58 AC he returned to the lists for jousts marking a decade since Jaehaerys's coronation, where Ser Ryam Redwyne unhorsed him.
Chapter 2
The sickness called the Shivers
59–61 ACBooks only
Ronnal died in 59 AC of the Shivers, the same illness that killed his wife and children that season.
Two of his daughters survived. Lord Rogar sent them to the royal court in 61 AC to be educated as befit their birth.
