House Bywater is a minor house of the Crownlands, sworn to House Baratheon of King's Landing. Neither its seat nor the year of its founding is known, and only one fact survives from its history: a Lord Bywater was among the few who did not abandon Maegor I Targaryen when the rest of his support fell away.

Lord Bywater was one of the last nobles to remain at Maegor I Targaryen's side. When most of those who had backed him had already drifted away, he stayed there, until the king died.
