Elenda Caron

Elenda was the daughter of Lord Royce Caron, Lord of Nightsong. At some point before 118 AC she married Borros Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, and over the years bore him four daughters: Cassandra, Maris, Floris, and Ellyn.

In 130 AC, King's Landing fell to the forces of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Ser Willis Fell got the young princess Jaehaera Targaryen out of the city and brought her to Storm's End, where Lord Borros and Lady Elenda took them in.

A year later, with the Dance of the Dragons drawing to a close, Lady Elenda was pregnant when Lord Borros marched at the head of Aegon II's forces to the battle of the Camino Real. Borros died in the fighting. Seven days after, Elenda gave birth to a son, Royce, who became Lord of Storm's End the moment he was born.

With her men broken by the defeat, Elenda took up the regency of her newborn son and accepted the peace terms on offer.

Elenda was still too weak from childbirth to travel to King's Landing and pay homage at the coronation of Aegon III. Instead, she sent three of her daughters, Floris, Cassandra, and Ellyn, to swear loyalty on behalf of House Baratheon and remain at court as hostages. Her father, Lord Royce Caron, traveled with them as their guardian, along with Ser Willis Fell and princess Jaehaera.

By around 132 AC, Dornish raids into the Stormlands were growing more frequent, and outlaws out of the Reach Forest added to the trouble. Looking for a firm hand to keep the peace, Elenda married again, this time to Ser Steffon Connington, second son of the Lord of Griffin's Roost. Steffon was twenty years her junior, but he had already proven himself fighting alongside Borros against the Vulture King, and was said to be as brave as he was striking.

The following year, Elenda was widowed again: Ser Steffon died at the hands of Wyland Wyl while chasing a small band of Dornish raiders through the Marches.

When her daughter Cassandra was accused and found guilty of Gaemon's death and of trying to poison the king and queen, Elenda was unable to travel to the capital for the trial. Instead, she sent three of her son's bannermen, who together with Lord Lorent Grandison arranged Cassandra's marriage to a minor knight, Ser Walter Brownhill. Elenda reasoned that raising her stepchildren and whatever children she had with Walter would keep Cassandra away from further treason and scheming.
