Triston Hightower
Triston Hightower was lord of Oldtown and head of House Hightower, holding every title tied to that seat: Voice of Oldtown, Lord of the Port, Lord of the Light, Defender of the Citadel, and Beacon of the South.
He inherited the office as a newborn, so his house spent two decades under a regent before he could rule in his own name.
Chapter 1
A newborn lord
Books only
Lord Damon Hightower died while his son Triston was still an infant, leaving House Hightower with a lord too young to rule. The septon Robeson took up the regency and held that ground for twenty years, wielding a lord's authority even though the title stayed Triston's.
That long regency produced more than a stand-in government: Robeson became the first High Septon of the Faith of the Seven, a dignity that had not existed before him.
Chapter 2
The Starry Sept
Books only
By the time Robeson died, Triston was ruling in his own right as Lord Hightower, holding his house's titles under his own name. He had the Starry Sept built in Oldtown in memory of the man who had governed in his place without ever holding the title himself.
