He was a younger brother of Lord Donnel Hightower, Lord of the Hightower under Jaehaerys I Targaryen, and like him became a septon, eventually taking a seat among the Most Devout. He was the younger brother of Lord Donnel Hightower, Lord of the Hightower under Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Like him, he had become a septon, and he sat among the Most Devout.
In the year 54, the death of the Septon Supreme brought King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alysanne to Oldtown, where they came to discuss the succession with Lord Donnel. Lord Donnel wanted the seat to go to a man of his own blood: his family counted nine septons, four of whom — including his younger brother — belonged to the Most Devout. The king raised no objection to a Hightower taking the office, so long as he upheld the Doctrine of Exceptionalism, and the agreement was sealed with a feast. In the end it was the aged septon Alfyn who was raised up as the new Septon Supreme.
