House Mollen
Casa Mollen
House Mollen is a minor northern house, sworn to House Bolton, with no seat of its own on record. Its place in the story rests on a single man, Hallis Mollen, captain of the guard at Winterfell, who follows the Starks through some of the war's most dangerous moments.
Chapter 1
The new captain
Books and show
Hallis Mollen takes over as captain of the Winterfell guard after Jory Cassel's departure. When Robb Stark gathers the northern bannermen to march against the Lannisters, Hal goes with him, taking most of the castle's guards along.
During the Battle of the Whispering Wood he stays at Lady Catelyn Tully's side, guarding her while the main fighting is decided elsewhere on the field.
Chapter 2
The funeral escort
Books only
Catelyn again trusts Hal to escort her, this time to King Renly Baratheon's camp, where she seeks to parley with him.
Later she gives him a different charge: to carry Lord Eddard Stark's bones back to Winterfell. The task is complicated by the ironborn, who have seized Moat Cailin, the passage that guards the way into the North.
Chapter 3
The road cut off
Books only
Years later, Lady Barbrey Ryswell tells Theon Greyjoy that she has posted men in the Barrowlands to cut off whoever is carrying Lord Eddard's bones: Hal Mollen and his men are still escorting them, still on the road to Winterfell.
