Walton Stark

In 49 AC, Walton travelled to King's Landing with his father, Lord Brandon Stark the Daring, and his younger brother Alaric, to attend the Golden Wedding. Shortly after the party returned north, Lord Brandon died, and Walton became Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, titles he would hold during the reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen.

The following year, two disgraced former Kingsguard knights, Ser Olyver Bracken and Ser Raymund Mallery, led a mutiny among the black brothers of the Wall. Lord Walton marched north to help the loyal brothers put it down, and it was he who beheaded Ser Olyver with Ice, the sword of House Stark.

The mutineers who escaped fled beyond the Wall, and Walton pursued them through the Haunted Forest. There his party was attacked by giants; he is said to have killed two before he was torn apart, and the surviving northmen carried the pieces of his body back to Castle Black.

Alaric Stark succeeded his brother as Lord of Winterfell and blamed King Jaehaerys I Targaryen for his death: the mutineers Walton had pursued had been pardoned by the young king after the wars fought by his predecessor, Maegor I Targaryen. In 58 AC, when Jaehaerys I visited Winterfell, Alaric showed him Walton's tomb in the crypts below the castle.
