Brandon Snow was the bastard half-brother of King Torrhen Stark. His one recorded moment comes during Aegon the Conqueror's invasion, when he volunteered to slip into the Targaryen camp and kill the dragons before the northern host and Aegon's army could meet on the Trident.

His offer stands as the only known northern attempt to fight the dragons head-on, in a war that would be settled another way.

Chapter 1

The mission against the dragons

When Aegon the Conqueror was preparing to march on Dorne, word reached him that King Torrhen Stark was marching south with an army of thirty thousand men. Aegon changed course and led his own force, some forty-five thousand strong, to meet him at the Trident.

It was then that Brandon Snow offered to slip into the Targaryen camp by night and kill the dragons before the two armies could clash.

Chapter 2

The herald of the surrender

Books only

The plan was never carried out. Faced with the size of Aegon's army and his dragons, Torrhen lost his nerve and chose not to give battle.

Instead of sending Brandon to kill dragons, he sent him along with three maesters to negotiate with the conqueror, a mission that ended with the King in the North kneeling before Aegon.
