Willam Stark

Willam Stark was Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North during the reign of Maekar I Targaryen, head of House Stark after his elder brother died without heirs.

It fell to him to rule the North when Raymun Redbeard climbed the Wall at the head of a wildling host, and it was Willam who mustered the northern lords to meet the threat.

Willam was born the second son of Beron Stark and Lorra Royce, with Donnor, Artos, Errold and Rodrik as brothers and Berena and Alysanne as sisters. He married twice: Lyanne Glover bore him Brandon, and Melantha Blackwood gave him Edwyle and Jocelyn.

When Donnor died without an heir, the succession fell to Willam, who became Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North. He held the office through the reign of Maekar I Targaryen on the Iron Throne.

Chapter 2

The Battle of the Long Lake

In 226 AC, Raymun Redbeard scaled the Wall at the head of a wildling host. Willam called his bannermen and marched north together with Lord Harmond Umber to head him off.

The northern host caught up with the wildlings on the shores of the Long Lake. In the battle that followed, Lord Willam was killed and beheaded.

His son Edwyle succeeded him. His remains rest in the crypts of Winterfell.
