Artos Stark
Artos Stark, known as Artos the Implacable, was a son of House Stark of Winterfell remembered as one of the most feared warriors of his age.
He owes his renown to killing Raymun Redbeard during the wildling king's invasion of the Wall, an episode that became part of the North's history. He lies in the crypts of Winterfell, where he has his own statue.
Chapter 1
The third son of Winterfell

Artos was born the third son of Lord Beron Stark, Lord of Winterfell, and Lady Lorra Royce. He had six siblings: Donnor, Willam, Berena, Alysanne, Errold, and Rodrik.
He married Lysara Karstark, and the marriage produced two sons, Brandon and Benjen. His contemporaries held him to be the most feared fighter of his day, a reputation that earned him the name Artos the Implacable.
His remains rest in the crypts of Winterfell, marked by a statue of his own.
Chapter 2
The Battle of the Long Lake
Books only
When Raymun Redbeard broke through the Wall, Lord Willam Stark called his bannermen and marched north to meet him. Artos rode with that army.
In the battle fought by the Long Lake, Lord Willam was killed and beheaded. Artos faced Raymun and killed him, ending the wildling invasion.
The Night's Watch reached the battlefield only after it was over. For their delay, Artos ordered them to see to the dead.
