Brandon Stark Shipwright

Brandon Stark rose to head House Stark and ruled the North bearing the titles of Lord of Winterfell and King in the North. What people of his time remembered him for was not his governance but an obsession: the sea. That is why he came to be called the Navigator, and also the Shipwright, names that spoke of ships and horizons rather than politics.

That obsession led him to attempt a crossing of the Sunset Sea, the vast water stretching west of Westeros that no one had ever returned from with a map. Brandon set sail and nothing more was ever learned of him or his crew. Winterfell's crypts hold a tomb bearing his name, but with no body to bury, it has stood empty ever since. The throne passed to his son, Brandon the Burner.
