Tygett Lannister

Tygett was born in 250 AC, one of the four children of Lord Tytos Lannister and Lady Jeyne Marbrand. From childhood he lived in the shadow of his elder brother Tywin, and the two never got on easily; his sister Genna would later recall, 'Tygett tried to make his own way, but he could never match your father, and that ate at him over the years.'

In 260 AC, only ten years old, he fought in the War of the Ninepenny Kings. He killed a man in his first battle and three more afterward, among them a knight of the Golden Company; he was too young for his spurs, but his courage drew notice from those who saw him fight.

The following year, when Tywin crushed the rebellion of Houses Reyne and Tarbeck, one semi-canonical source says Tygett rode with him as his squire, and that by the end of the campaign he had finally been knighted. He also stood by his brother when the rebel houses' lands were laid waste, and Genna would later tell her nephew Jaime that Tygett must have been a knight of considerable strength in battle.

In 276 AC, during the tournament held at Lannisport for the birth of Prince Viserys, Tygett was unhorsed by Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, as was his younger brother Gerion.

At sixteen he traveled to the Free Cities, on the journey young lords often made on reaching their majority.

Years later, while Tywin served as Hand of the King, he wanted to name Tygett master-at-arms of the Red Keep, but King Aerys II Targaryen chose Ser Willem Darry for the post instead.

Tygett married his cousin Darlessa Marbrand, and they had a son together, Tyrek. He was fond of his nephew Tyrion: when the boy asked for a dragon as a name day gift, Tygett told him, half in jest, that dragons had been extinct for a century.

He died of the pox; the catalog places his death around 285 AC, though the source does not give an exact date.
