Tysha

After escaping the Vale of Arryn with Bronn, Tyrion took cover in the Mountains of the Moon, and there told, for the first time, the story of his first marriage.

It had all started on a lonely road, when a band of outlaws was harassing a young woman travelling alone; Jaime rode off after them while Tyrion stayed to help her. Her name was Tysha, the daughter of a tenant farmer who had died of illness and left her with no family. Tyrion fell for her, paid a septon to marry them in secret, and by the Sunset Sea the two of them found a cabin to live in. They had two happy weeks, before everything fell apart.

Lord Tywin found out that his son had married for love the daughter of one of his own tenants, and decided to punish him harshly. He ordered Jaime to lie to Tyrion, telling him Tysha was a prostitute hired for the occasion.

He then had her taken to Casterly Rock, where he made Tyrion watch as one guardsman after another had her, paying a silver stag for each man, and finally forced Tyrion himself to do the same, leaving a gold dragon on the bed this time.

Years later, with Shae now as his lover, Tyrion spoke of Tysha again. Not long after, badly wounded and burning with fever following the Battle of the Blackwater, he saw her once more in his dreams, reliving the good days of that cabin by the sea.

On his wedding night with Sansa Stark, Tyrion admitted he had been married once before, to a lady named Tysha, of House Puñadoplata, whose coat of arms combined a gold coin with a hundred silver ones over a bloodstained cloth.

Shortly after, on the eve of his execution, Jaime pulled him out of his cell and told him the whole prostitute story had been a lie. Tyrion realized Tysha had truly loved him, and his fury at his brother followed close behind.

Before escaping the Red Keep he ran into his father and demanded to know what had become of her; Tywin, unmoved, said only that she'd gone back to wherever whores come from. Tyrion killed him on the spot.

During his flight across Essos, Tyrion couldn't stop thinking about Tysha, wondering again and again where she might be.
