House Myatt
Casa Myatt
House Myatt is a family from the Westerlands sworn to the Lannisters of Casterly Rock. Their emblem, a spotted treecat on a tawny field, never leads a chapter: it turns up sideways, in a camp, on a banner, among the forces of Casterly Rock during the War of the Five Kings.
No source records a seat of their own, though tradition holds that generations earlier they paid dearly for taking the wrong side in a religious uprising against the Iron Throne.
Chapter 1
The house that burned for the Faith
Books only
During the Faith Militant's uprising against the Iron Throne, House Myatt sided with the rebels.
King Maegor I Targaryen answered by bringing Balerion over their holdfast and burning it to the ground, as he did with other centers of the revolt. No source says where that seat once stood.
Chapter 2
Survivors by the Gods Eye
Books only
Riding along the western shore of the Gods Eye with the recruits bound for the Wall, Yoren and his group come across a camp of twenty or thirty men in mail and helms. Some are wounded, carrying spears and shields, and only one lame horse remains among them. Their banner shows a spotted treecat, yellow and black, on a brown field.
Yoren doesn't recognize the sigil and, unsure which side they favor, gives the camp a wide berth, wary that desperate men might want his horses. Arya Stark later sees the same device again as Lord Tywin Lannister marches his host out of Harrenhal.
Chapter 3
A treecat at the Twins
Books only
During the Red Wedding, Arya Stark watches a man with a treecat on his jerkin step out of a tent on the grounds outside the Twins.
Chapter 4
In the cortege to Casterly Rock
Books only
Among the banners of the western lords escorting Lord Tywin Lannister's body back to Casterly Rock was that of House Myatt.
