House Kenning of Kayce

Herrock Kenning was the one who carried the name to Kayce. An ironborn by birth, he came from House Kenning of Harlaw, and likely arrived in these lands during the era when the Hoare kings ruled a stretch of coast running from Bear Island to the Banefort. What he left behind was the war horn that bears his name, passed down through the family from father to son as an heirloom.

When Lord Tywin Lannister breaks camp at Harrenhal, Arya Stark picks out the Kennings' quartered suns among the banners marching past. It is the first time the house appears before the reader, folded in among the rest of the Westerlands banners following Casterly Rock to war.

After Lord Tywin's death, his body makes its way back to Casterly Rock, escorted by the lords and knights of the Westerlands. Among those banners, House Kenning's is seen again.
